Why we started
Our Story — Why We Started Westerville’s Solar-Powered Frozen Treats Trike
If you grew up in the 90s, you remember it. The music coming down the street. The scramble for loose change. The sprint to the curb before it passed your house.
That magic doesn’t exist anymore. The trucks stopped coming. And when one does roll through, it’s some random person you’ve never seen, blasting a jingle from a speaker that’s seen better days.
UpTown Pops started because we wanted to bring that feeling back — but make it unexpected.
Unexpected because the treats are actually good. Not just the nostalgic classics (though we have those too), but handcrafted pops from small-batch Ohio makers — Street Pops out of Cincinnati, Sweet P’s from Dayton — flavors like Blueberry Lavender, Mango Chili, Thai Basil Lime. Things nobody else is rolling through a Westerville neighborhood with.
Unexpected because the music hits different. We took the classic ice cream truck sound and remixed it — DJ’d up, because why should the kids have all the fun? When you hear us coming, you’ll know it’s not the same old truck.
Unexpected because you know who we are. You’ve seen us on Instagram. You know our names. We’re not a mystery van — we’re your neighbors on an orange trike.
And unexpected because it’s powered by the sun. Literally. Our freezer runs on a solar panel. No generator humming on your street. No exhaust. Just sunshine and music that means something good is coming.
UpTown Pops is a family business, rooted right here in Westerville. We’re not a franchise. We’re not a brand with a call center. We’re the family down the street who wanted to bring something fun to the neighborhood — and ended up building a business around it.
Why trust matters
People Buy From People They Know
That’s why we’re on social media before we’re on your street. By the time you hear the music, you already know who’s playing it.
This isn’t a drive-by. We ride through your neighborhood. We stop. We chat. Your kids learn our names. That’s the whole point.
